![]() I don't know the exact logic behind this but I read that it's possible for some tasks to get stuck in the SSD's memory which could cause it to continue trying to perform some task or access some files even after rebooting. This bug was so bad that even after disabling Steam from starting up with Windows and rebooting my computer, my disk activity remained at 100% and my PC was impossibly slow. This, for whatever reason, resulted at my disk activity being stuck at 100% even though it wasn't doing anything from the looks of it. I was unable to pause the download and I couldn't exit Steam because it needed to stop the download first, which Steam wasn't able to do. Task Manager didn't actually show Steam or anything else taking up any disk usage, so it took me a while to narrow down the issue: my Hogwarts Legacy had tried to download an update of some kind and was stuck at "stopping download" at 99%. But I would rather not have to swap out my HDD and have to install Windows and everything all over again. Im doubling my RAM to 32gb and Im also going to follow the recommendations of using an SSD. And no wonder, my disk activity was stuck at 100%! I really want to play this game but I need to do some upgrades. Even if your NASA friend borrowed you a PC, it might still fail to properly run on ultra because no amount of hardware can fix bad optimization.Bug DescriptionI started my PC up today and noticed that everything was very slow. Simplest way: just compare your GPU against "recommended" settings and if you're 1-2 generations of GPU away, tough luck - until optimization comes out (IF it ever comes), you need to ask NASA if they have a spare PC to run this thing on ultra. Played the game for 10+ hours just fine, but just when I log in, the screen stuck and white out completely, with only music playing in the background. Just in case, VRAM ≠ RAM and it's not only about the size of it but also about frequency (and L1/L2 caching till some degree). It's a VRAM and/or wrong texture buffering config issue. If you stand still in the zone you'll notice the graphics gradually "improving", aka your GPU catching up. "I couldn't care less"-GPU scenario - you get potato graphics, like LOD objects not being replaced with the real ones or texture streaming taking such a long time that you can see them popping into the view on the otherwise brown/gray blob polygons. Having stuff on ultra setting doesn't mean your GPU will be able to handle those ultra settings. ![]()
